GRAND RAPIDS CIVIC THEATRE is seeking to fill the following seasonal contract positions:

TRAVELING TROUPE DIRECTOR
TRAVELING TROUPE MUSICAL DIRECTOR
TRAVELING TROUPE CHOREOGRAPHER
TRAVELING TROUPE STAGE MANAGER
TRAVELING TROUPE TOUR MANAGER

Now in its 26th year, the GRCT Traveling Troupe is an outreach program that brings a one hour theatrical performance to Grand Rapids Area schools free of charge.  The troupe consists of volunteer child & adult actors led by a creative team of professional artists.  The 2016 Traveling Troupe will audition in early January, rehearse 3-4 days a week in January/February, and perform once or twice a week from March until the first week of June.  


DIRECTOR is primarily responsible for preparing the production for public presentation.  Duties include, but are not limited to: defining the artistic vision for the production, communicating the vision to the production staff, casting the production, staging the production, and developing the performance event as a whole. 

MUSIC DIRECTOR is primarily responsible for preparing the musical aspect of the production. Duties include, but are not limited to: assisting in the casting process, vocally preparing the performers, coordinating efforts to create a performance backtrack (if one does not already exist).  

CHOREOGRAPHER is primarily responsible for preparing the dance & movement aspects of the production.  Duties include but are not limited to: assisting in the casting process, preparing & teaching choreography to performers, assisting the director with movement based character work.

STAGE MANAGER is primarily responsible for managing the backstage operations and performance of the production.  Duties include but are not limited to: assisting with the audition process, training & supervising any running crew, preparing the stage & backstage areas for rehearsal & performance, maintaining communication with cast, crew, production staff, and tour manager, supervising set up & tear down at each performance, and overseeing all technical aspects of the production.

TOUR MANAGER is primarily responsible for booking the Troupe’s performances and coordinating all performance needs/details with the venues (schools).  Duties include, but are not limited to: coordinating transportation needs for the performers and production elements (set/costumes/props/sound), assists in the creation and distribution of promotional materials and educational guides, communication between the troupe and each venue.
